Lahore Garrison Education System (LGES) has a deep rooted history of more than half a century. The first ever educational institution established in the country under the auspicious administration of Army was Azam Garrison High School. The School was established in 1950 with the motive to cater quality education for both the genders. The School started as co-education in the beginning but with the passage of time and increase in student’s strength, dire need for another institution was felt with the result of emergence of Garrison Boys High School in 1963. The Chain of institutions kept on increasing with the course of time. So far nine institutions have been established in Lahore which are providing quality education to children of army as well as civil personnel.
In 1982, a third school, Garrison Junior school was established, It is a primary school from Montessori upto class 5 having co-education. This school acts as a feeder Institution for Garrison Boys High School and Azam Garrison High School (Class 6th-Matric).
With an incentive to compete with other institutions and to introduce better quality education, on the lines of GCE-O levels in 1983, Garrison Academy for Boys was launched during Lt. Gen. Sardar F.S Lodhi’s time. The academy started functioning in April 1984. Now it has also started GCE-A levels classes.
In order to manage and organize all Garrison Institutions, need for a proper LGES Secretariat was felt. In 1990 LGES Secretariat was established at Link Tufail Road on the premises of Garrison Academy for Boys.
LGES took a step further, when a separate girls college, Garrison Degree College was established in 1994. It started with conduction of intermediate classes which was previously being run at Azam Garrison High School, later merged in college. The college was upgraded to Post Graduate Level in due time. Presently master’s classes in English, Applied Psychology Mass Communication are being conducted.
Keeping in view the success of prosperity of Garrison Academy for Boys, 1994, another Institution, Garrisons Academy for girls was established on the same lines which is catering Matric as well as GCE-O Level examination.
In 1994, Garrison Degree College for Boys was established opposite Nishat Colony Lahore Cantt. It became operational in July 1995 with graduate level (BA/BSc), BSc ( Hons.) Computer Science Course affiliated with University of Engineering and Technology Lahore.In April 2003, another new addition to the LGES was made by separating the junior section of Garrison Academy for Boys and Garrison Junior Academy was established providing co-education from Montessori to grade 5. It continued serving as primary school for Garrison Academy for Boys as well as for Garrison Academy for Girls.
In 2007, LGES has initiated a student Health & Guidance Cell where School health services as well as consulting services are provided by full time doctor and psychologist.LGES is a well-established educational organization, providing quality education through its prestigious institutions offering SSC,HSSC and GCE-O/A Levels.
